Welcome to Professional Orientation to Life Care Planning!
The Institute of Rehabilitation Education and Training (IRET) Pre-certification program is designed to prepare those who are seeking to become Certified Life Care Planners (CLCP) or Canadian Certified Life Care Planners (CCLCP) with the knowledge necessary to successfully pass the certification exam offered by the International Commission on Health Care Certification. For specific information on the CLCP or the CCLCP credential please visit: http://ichcc.org
This course is designed to be a self-paced course guided by on-line material and limited interaction between you and the course instructor. The course is divided into a series of lessons. Each lesson will include a set of learning activities:
- audio/video with its corresponding lecture slide notes, or power point lecture.
- assignments such as a web based field trips, and lesson exercises like case studies. Please note that some web based field trips are optional and there are no questions on the final exam from the optional web field trips.
- most of the lessons include a self assessment that is not graded and the answer is provided within the self assessment.
You may exit the course at any time. When you log back into the course, use the navigation keys such as “Table of Contents” to find your place and continue from where you left off.
If you have any questions about the content of the course, please feel free to contact the course instructor at firstname.lastname@example.org
After you have reviewed all of the lessons you will be directed to take a multiple choice final exam. The final exam is composed of 50 multiple choice and true/false questions. If you achieve at least 70% or greater on the final exam you will receive a certificate (for 20 contact hours) which you can download and print from your computer. You will have three chances to achieve a score of 70% or higher. You will not be able to see the correct answers to questions you answered incorrectly, so please make sure to review the lessons carefully.
Once you have completed all 6 courses associated with this program you should then submit each of your certificates (totaling 120 contact hours) to the International Commission for Health Care Certification (ICHCC) in order to become eligible for certification. During the process of applying for certification you will also be asked to submit a Life Care Plan to be “Critiqued” by the ICHCC. Please note that this “Critique” is not part of the IRET program and if you have any questions about the requirements for certification eligibility you should contact the IHCC at: http://ichcc.org
