Learning Activities

  1. Read pages 336-343 of Chapter 15: “Life Care Planning for the Child with Spinal Cord Injury” in Pediatric Life Care Planning and Case Management.

    This portion of the chapter describes the medical complications of spinal cord injury. The complications of spinal cord injury are basically the same as for adults although they vary in frequency.
  2. Read pages 393-399 of Chapter 16: “Life Care Planning for Children with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities” in Pediatric Life Care Planning and Case Management.

    This section of this chapter details the complications associated with spina bifida. The complications are strongly associated with the level of defect of the spinal injury.
