Why is it important to consider the family when developing a discharge plan?
It is important to consider the family when developing a discharge plan as the patient’s severe disability may have a serious impact on individual family members and on the family unit as a whole. The family should not be forgotten in the discharge planning process. If the injured family member is to be discharged home, each family member will have to adjust to major changes in the home environment.
