Why is community reintegration important for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury?

Successful community reintegration can be difficult for individuals who have sustained a TBI due to behavioral impairments, personality changes, and difficulties with interpersonal relationships. However, it is important for individuals with TBI to feel that they have a purpose in society. Giving individuals with TBI the opportunity to participate in recreational or leisure activities can enhance their quality of life as well as improve their self-esteem.
