While all amputations are significant, those individuals who have bilateral or multiple amputations are often faced with numerous handicaps and may remain very dependent on long-term support services.

Information on high-voltage electrical burn injuries, which often lead to multiple amputations, is reviewed. Potential complications are also addressed.
